New Years Resolution Poem
In early January
On my way to the cemetery,
I saw two dead possums under a tree on 49th street
They were frozen and
I was proud
of myself for going on a run in the cold.
In mid January
On my way to the cemetery,
I saw a two dead possum shaped pile of snow under a tree on 49th street I was frozen and
I was proud
of myself for going on a run in the cold.
In mid February
On my way to the cemetery,
I saw two dead possums under a tree on 49th street.
They were frozen,
And I was sick
of running in the cold.
In early March,
On my way to the cemetery,
I saw two dead possums under a tree on 49th street,
And they looked like they had died yesterday.
And I was discouraged
That months pass without change.
In mid April,
On my way to the cemetery,
I saw two dead possums under a tree on 49th street,
They had gathered flies like medals after a marathon
And I was proud
Of myself for going for a run in the rain.
In May,
On my way to the cemetery,
I saw two dead possums under a tree on 49th street, And I hardly recognized them,
All bones
And I was tired
Of running by these dead animals every day But it was inspiring to see
My workout buddies reaching their goals
